Water Mission is a Christian engineering nonprofit organization that has been providing sustainable safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) solutions in Tanzania since it began work there with a community based project in 2002. The organization established a full country program in Tanzania in 2013 and, since then, has served more than 1.1 million Tanzanians with access to safe water. Water Mission focuses its efforts on the Dodoma and Kigoma regions, areas characterized by high poverty levels and a critical need for safe water access. Water-related illnesses place a heavy burden on the health budget, making sustainable WASH solutions crucial for community well-being. Water Mission’s work in Tanzania is varied, addressing the needs of both rural communities and large refugee settlements. Water Mission’s strategy involves close collaboration with local governments, international agencies, and community members, focusing on capacity building and community-managed operation models to ensure lasting impact. Their goal is not only to provide safe water but also to share their mission of experiencing God’s love through their work.
