WWF Tanzania has been a cornerstone of environmental conservation in the country since 1962. Originally established to support rhino conservation and managed directly from Switzerland, the organization officially founded its Tanzania Programme Office in 1990. Over the decades, it has evolved from managing stand-alone wildlife rescue projects into a sophisticated network of strategic programs that address the root causes of biodiversity loss and human-environment conflict. The organization’s work is currently centered on several thematic priorities: Forests, Freshwater, Oceans, and Wildlife. Key initiatives include the restoration of degraded landscapes, such as those near Udzungwa National Park, and the Water Towers Landscape program, which protects critical catchments essential for Tanzania’s water security. By engaging with the Government of Tanzania, WWF also influences national policy, recently helping shape the Development Vision 2050 to ensure conservation is a priority in the nation’s long-term growth.A major focus of the WWF Tanzania Strategic Plan 2021–2025 is the “People and Nature” approach. This involves empowering local communities to manage their natural resources sustainably through initiatives like Community-Based Natural Resource Management and Climate Smart Agriculture. The organization is an equal opportunity employer, hence all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
