The Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB), known as TAKUKURU, is a specialized public body in Tanzania dedicated to eliminating corruption. Established under the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Act No. 11 of 2007, the bureau replaced the former Prevention of Corruption Bureau (PCB) with broader powers and a more robust legal framework to tackle financial crimes. The institution operates on a three-pillar strategy: prevention, public education, and enforcement. Through prevention, PCCB examines the systems of government departments and private organizations to seal loopholes that allow for bribery or embezzlement. Its education wing focuses on raising public awareness, encouraging citizens to reject corruption and report suspicious activities through initiatives like “Takukuru Tuko Site”. On the enforcement side, the bureau has the authority to investigate allegations and prosecute offenders, often recovering billions in stolen public funds—such as the 30.1 billion TZS recovered during the 2023/24 financial year. As a critical pillar of Tanzania’s national integrity system, PCCB works closely with other state organs like the Tanzania Revenue Authority and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The organization is an equal opportunity employer, hence all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
