The Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS), located at Bugando Hill in Mwanza, Tanzania, is a premier private institution dedicated to health professional training and research. Established by the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC), the university is situated within the Bugando Medical Centre complex, overlooking Lake Victoria. CUHAS provides training for over 3,000 students across a wide spectrum of health sciences. Its academic structure includes several specialized schools and institutes. The university offers diverse programs ranging from diplomas to doctorates, including Doctor of Medicine (MD), Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences (BMLS), and Master of Medicine (MMed). Student life is represented by the CUHAS Students’ Organization (CUHASSO), which promotes academic freedom and welfare. The university continues to modernize its environment, recently expanding its sports facilities at Kabuhoro to include fields for football, basketball, and netball.
