The Tanzania Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics Services Agency (TEMESA) is a critical government executive agency established on August 26, 2005, under the Executive Agencies Act No. 30 of 1997. Operating under the Ministry of Works, TEMESA was formed to take over roles previously held by the Electrical and Mechanical Division to improve productivity and service delivery across Tanzania. The agency’s primary mandate is to provide efficient and reliable engineering services in the fields of electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems. A cornerstone of their operations is the management of ferry services, maintaining a fleet of 33 ferries and 7 boats across 22 crossings, which serves roughly 26.8 million passengers and 1.7 million vehicles annually. Additionally, TEMESA manages a nationwide network of 30 workshops that maintain and repair over 29,000 government and public motor vehicles per year.
