Camara Education Tanzania is a prominent non-profit social enterprise that has been dedicated to improving the quality of education through technology since its establishment in 2012. Operating as a key hub within the broader Camara Education international network, the organization focuses on empowering disadvantaged youth by providing them with the digital tools and skills necessary to improve their future life opportunities. Headquartered in Dar es Salaam, it works across both mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar to bridge the digital divide in some of the country’s most underserved areas. The organization’s holistic model extends beyond the mere delivery of hardware; it centers on building sustainable “Digital Learning Centres” (DLCs). These centers are equipped with high-quality refurbished computers and pre loaded with curriculum-mapped offline educational content, which is vital for schools lacking reliable internet access. A primary focus of their work is teacher empowerment, as they believe that hardware alone is insufficient to transform learning. To date, Camara has trained over 3,500 educators to effectively integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into their daily teaching practices. Camara’s impact is significant and measurable, having reached more than 860 schools and over 315,000 students nationwide.
