Mbeya Cement Company Limited (MCCL) is a cornerstone of the construction industry in Tanzania and the broader East African region, with a legacy spanning over 40 years. Established by the Tanzanian government in 1973 and beginning production in 1983, the company has evolved through various ownership structures, eventually being fully privatized. Operating a fully integrated, state-of-the-art cement plant in the Songwe Industrial Area of the Mbeya Region in Southwest Tanzania, Mbeya Cement is a leading manufacturer of high-quality clinker, cement, and other building solutions under its well-known “Tembo” brand. The facility, which underwent a major modernization including the installation of a new Vertical Cement Mill in 2015, boasts an impressive annual production capacity of approximately 1.1 million tonnes. The company serves both the domestic market and neighboring countries such as Zambia, Malawi, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
