EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY SHANTA GOLD MINE LTD 

JOB TITLE: CHEF (1 POST)

Location: Singida Gold Mine, Central Tanzania

Work Schedule: 6 Weeks On / 3 Weeks Off

Duration: 6 Months Contract

Reporting to: Admin Officer (Camp & Stores)

Scope of Role:

The Chef will be responsible for preparing quality meals, ensuring high standards of hygiene, and supporting efficient kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure all work complies with Shanta Mining Company Limited HSE requirements.
• Check food quality, presentation, and service against company standards.
• Liaise with Admin Officer (Camp & Stores) on daily operational requirements and improvements.
• Assist in preparing and modifying menus and recipes.
• Manage daily requisitions for kitchen supplies, considering forecasts and stock balance.
• Ensure smooth and timely supply of meals across units and departments.
• Maintain strict hygiene and food storage standards.
• Oversee proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
• Supervise cleanliness and accountability within the kitchen team.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications & Experience

• Secondary School Education Certificate.
• Certificate in Food Preparation from a recognized institution.
• Prior experience in commercial kitchens, hotels, or camps (mining environment preferred).
• Strong delegation, communication, and leadership skills.
• Familiarity with cooking trends and best practices.
• Knowledge of food handling, equipment use, and hygiene standards.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office, Syspro).
