JOB TITLE: Senior Research Associate
TSL, a leading Tanzanian stockbroker and investment advisory firm, is looking for a Senior Research Associate to join their team in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The deadline to apply is September 15, 2025. This role will involve leading the firm’s research agenda and providing actionable insights, financial analysis, and sector intelligence to support investment decisions and strategic advisory. The successful candidate will work closely with senior teams, investors, and regulators.
Key Responsibilities
The role’s responsibilities fall into two main categories:
Market Intelligence & Financial Analysis
- Developing and maintaining financial models like DCF (discounted cash flow) and comparable and scenario analyses across various sectors and asset classes.
- Conducting research on macroeconomic, sectoral, and company-specific topics to identify investment opportunities and risks.
- Monitoring and interpreting market trends, regulatory developments, and geopolitical shifts to inform investment strategy.
- Producing high-impact research reports, forecasts, and valuation summaries for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Supporting equity analysts by synthesizing data, initiating coverage, and providing cross-border insights.
Transaction & Advisory Support
- Providing analytical input for client pitches, investor presentations, prospectuses, and feasibility studies.
- Collaborating with Corporate Advisory teams on due diligence, financial structuring, and deal execution.
- Maintaining and enriching databases of institutional investors, strategic partners, and transaction benchmarks.
- Contributing to valuation reports and investment memoranda for M&A (mergers and acquisitions), IPOs (initial public offerings), bond issuances, and private placements.
The Ideal Candidate
To be considered for the position, candidates should have:
- A degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in investment banking, capital markets, or economic research.
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, particularly with DCF and comparables.
- Experience in transaction support, including M&A, IPOs, bond issuances, and project finance.
- Familiarity with the CMSA (Capital Markets and Securities Authority) and DSE (Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange) regulatory frameworks.
