The Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission (TAEC) is a government body responsible for all atomic energy matters in the United Republic of Tanzania. TAEC was established under the Atomic Energy Act No. 7 of 2003 (Cap. 188). It is mandated to regulate and supervise the use of atomic energy and nuclear technology in order to protect workers, patients, the public, and the environment from the harmful effects of both ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. Furthermore, it is tasked with coordinating and promoting the transfer of nuclear technology for national development. The primary mandate of TAEC is to regulate and supervise the use of both ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. This regulatory oversight effectively protects workers, patients, the general public, and the environment from the hazardous effects of radiation exposure. Beyond its strict regulatory functions, the commission actively promotes the safe, secure, and peaceful application of nuclear science. It coordinates technology transfers and holds specialized training programs to benefit vital socio-economic sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, livestock development, and mining. The organization is an equal opportunity employer, hence all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
