The Tanzania Education Network (TEN/MET) is a prominent national network that serves as a unified voice for civil society organizations (CSOs) within the Tanzanian education sector. Established in 1999 and officially registered as an NGO in 2015, the network now comprises over 250 member organizations, including community based groups, national NGOs, and international partners. Its primary mission is to coordinate the efforts of these diverse actors to advocate for equitable access to inclusive, gender-responsive, and high-quality education for all learners across Mainland Tanzania. Operationally, TEN/MET focuses on three core pillars: evidence-based advocacy to influence national education policies and budgets, capacity building for member organizations, and fostering accountability by connecting communities with the government. The network champions critical issues such as early childhood development, teacher motivation, and the reintegration of young mothers into the school system. By linking grassroots realities with national decision making, it ensures that education investments translate into sustainable, system wide improvements that reach the most marginalized children.
